History

In 1969, Donald and Doris Fisher founded the Gap store, which provided clothes for sale in San Francisco, California. In the beginning, Gap sold only music records and Levi jeans, and after it had completed its opening year business, the sales reached close to $1 million. A year later, the second store of the company was opened in San Jose, California, and its headquarters were established in Burlingame.
