Brief History

The foundation history of Pacific Life dates back to 150 years in 1868, when Leland Stanford former Governor of California founded Pacific Mutual Life in Sacramento, CA. He was also the first person to receive the first policy on May 9, 1868, and also the first president from1868-1876. On demands of the policy holders, the company started offering accident insurance in 1885. Pacific Mutual consolidated with Conservative Life from Los Angles on March 12, 1906. The company also began offering Fire Insurance from Pacific Mutual’s San Francisco Home office.

The merger of San Diego based First Capital Life with $4 billion assets were completed on July 1, 1992 by Pacific Mutual through its new subsidiary Pacific Corinthian Life. A new subsidiary, Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) was launched on September 1, 1997, and conversion to a mutual holding company structure took effect on September 1, 1997, and Pacific Mutual became a stock life insurance. The merger also led to renaming of the company as Pacific Life Insurance Company (Pacific Life).

As of 2012, the company had an asset of around $124 billion and equity of $7.4 billion. The operating revenue for the same period was $7.25 billion and operating income of $722million. The Headquarters is located at Newport Beach, California, USA.

Customer Service employees are responsible for responding to phone calls from policy holders and producers and answer questions related to Pacific Life products. Their functions also include flawless delivery of retirement solutions, real estate business and life insurance, and also include policy applications processing, loan documents reviewing and tracking, and new business.

The customer service associates must be analytical and pay attention to details and possess exceptional communication skills.

Actuarial

The candidates must have Statistics, Actuarial Science or Mathematics backgrounds. They must possess problem solving quality, excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical, team player, adaptability and an eye for data. Such candidates are hired for modeling, planning and projections, products design and pricing, and valuations.

Information Technology

Must participate actively in sophisticated technology development for complex business solutions; adapt to a multi-platform and changing environment. They must possess problem solving quality, are resourceful, and superior service and delivery standards.
